Amy Brooks promoted to NBA President, Team Marketing & Business Operations and Chief Innovation Officer

NEW YORK – The NBA has promoted Amy Brooks to President, Team Marketing & Business Operations and Chief Innovation Officer, it was announced today by NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum.

In her newly-created role as Chief Innovation Officer, Brooks will drive innovative decision-making and growth across the NBA’s business through the development and execution of new ideas and initiatives.  She will continue to report to Tatum and will collaborate with the NBA’s senior leadership, including NBA Chief Financial Officer J.B. Lockhart, on setting the league’s global strategic priorities.

“Amy is one of the most accomplished and innovative executives in sports, and this promotion is a recognition of her outstanding leadership,” said Tatum.  “She is an extraordinarily valuable resource to our teams and the league office, and she will be instrumental in our efforts to drive transformative business growth on a global basis.”

Brooks, who previously served as Executive Vice President, Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO), has overseen the TMBO department since 2013.  She will continue to be responsible for growing NBA, WNBA and NBA G League team profitability through strategic consulting on all aspects of business operations, including ticket and sponsorship sales, marketing, digital, customer retention, arena operations, staffing, analytics and expense control.  Brooks leads a dedicated group across all three leagues that has helped set records for attendance as well as ticket and sponsorship revenue.

Brooks joined the NBA in 2005 and has held positions in TMBO and Global Partnerships.  She received her M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where she was a member of the women’s basketball team that won three conference championships and went to the NCAA Final Four.  Brooks has earned numerous industry accolades, including recognitions by SportsBusiness Journal (Forty Under 40) and Forbes (Top 10 Most Powerful Women in Sports).
