NEW YORK – The NBA announced today that longtime media executive Jennifer Chun has joined the league as Senior Vice President, Global Media Distribution.  Chun will report to Bill Koenig, NBA President, Global Media Distribution, and will work closely with David Denenberg, Senior Vice President, Global Media Distribution and Business Affairs, to help drive the growth of the NBA’s television and digital assets, including NBA TV and NBA LEAGUE PASS.

Chun brings more than 15 years of experience in the television and digital media industry to her new role. She comes to the NBA directly from Time Warner Cable, where she recently served as Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition. In her role, Chun was responsible for the company’s content-related deals and oversaw several content categories, including regional and national sports networks, studio offerings, premium networks and network portfolios from other major media companies. She also managed deal support for Time Warner Cable’s video products group, including TWC TV on IP devices.  In her role, she was responsible for licensing arrangements for all of Time Warner Cable’s products and platforms, such as linear, on demand, interactive and TV Everywhere.

“Jennifer is a dynamic leader known throughout the media industry for her savvy and skill,” said Koenig. “The expertise that she has demonstrated throughout her career will benefit the league tremendously as the NBA continues to develop new content offerings, grows its relationships with leading network and digital media partners and reaches more fans through NBA TV and NBA LEAGUE PASS.”

“I look forward to joining the NBA, a global leader that continues to develop innovative ways to deliver content to basketball enthusiasts around the world,” said Chun. “NBA fans are passionate about their favorite players and their teams and I am thrilled with the opportunity to help reach those fans through our partners and exciting content.”

Before joining Time Warner Cable in 2011, Chun was Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs at News Corp Digital Media.  She previously served as Senior Vice President at Fox Cable Networks (FCN), where she led business and legal affairs support for the company’s affiliate sales and marketing department. Chun’s duties included the negotiation of carriage and advanced services agreements for all of FCN’s national cable networks and regional sports networks.

A former member of the Board of Directors for the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication (NAMIC), Chun has received numerous accolades throughout her career.  She has been regularly featured among Cablefax The Magazine’s Most Powerful Women in Cable, was named one of Sports Business Journal’s “Game Changers: Women in Sports Business” in 2013 and also was recognized as a “Wonder Woman” by Multichannel News in 2014.
