Celtics, Kings to play regular-season game in Mexico City
MEXICO CITY – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Zignia Live today announced that the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings will travel to Mexico for the first time to play the league’s third regular-season game in the country at the Mexico City Arena on Dec. 3 as part of NBA Global Games 2015. The contest marks the league’s 22nd game in Mexico overall, the most NBA matchups held in any country outside the U.S. and Canada.
The Celtics, who have won a record 17 NBA championships, are led by Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, and Marcus Smart, while the Kings feature NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay.
In addition to the on court action, NBA Global Games Mexico City 2015 will feature a variety of activities off the court, including NBA Cares community programs and interactive fan events. The game also will be supported by a variety of partners and will be available to fans globally on television, digital, and social media.
Tickets can be purchased beginning April 24 at the Mexico City Arena’s ticket booths, online at superboletos.com, via phone at 01 800 BOLETOS, or at any of the following stores across Mexico: Soriana, Farmacias del Ahorro, Blockbuster, Innova Sport, and Palacio de Hierro.
NBA Global Games Mexico City 2015 is one of many games the league will play internationally next season as part its efforts to connect with fans globally. NBA Global Games China 2015 will feature two preseason games between the Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers this October. Additional NBA Global Games will be announced at a later date.
