NBA champion Jamal Murray to headline “NBA 3X Paris presented by New Balance”

PARIS – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and New Balance today announced that 2023 NBA champion and New Balance athlete Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets will headline “NBA 3X Paris presented by New Balance” on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 at the newly refurbished Square Alexandre Luquet basketball court on Rue du Transvaal in the 20th arrondissement of the French capital.

The new court will provide a safe and enjoyable space for local basketball players and fans of all ages to come together through sport and culture and learn the fundamentals of the game.  On Friday, June 23, the NBA and New Balance will unveil the new court by hosting a series of basketball clinics for young players ages 10-15 from the local community before the 3-on-3 tournament tips off on Saturday.

NBA 3X Paris Presented by New Balance will feature a 3-on-3 tournament consisting of 20 men’s and 20 women’s teams in the 18+ division, as well as interactive basketball activities open to fans, including a three-point contest and dunk contest.  Participants will receive a New Balance basketball kit that includes footwear, shorts and a jersey, and the winners will win tickets to a future preseason or regular-season NBA game in Europe or the Middle East.  Players can register for the tournament by visiting NBA.com/3XParis.

“I’m excited to see the local talent taking to the court in Paris and celebrating the game,” said Murray.  “I know France has a huge passion for basketball, so I look forward to meeting fans and cheering them on during NBA 3X as they ball out for the tournament’s top honors.”

“Giving back to the community is at the heart of the New Balance and NBA relationship, and refurbishing the Square Alexandre Luquet court is a physical manifestation of that,” said New Balance Strategic Partnership Lead, Jessica Vassall.  “We look forward to seeing the newly refurbished court become a center for basketball activity for the local community in Paris.  We hope that this court serves as a platform for local talent to show their skills and as a catalyst for others to pursue their love of the sport.”

Murray, the 7th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, helped lead the Nuggets to their first NBA championship in franchise history after defeating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the 2023 NBA Finals, which concluded earlier today.  Murray averaged 21.4 points, 10 assists and 6.2 rebounds during the Finals after averaging 20 points, 6.2 assists and 4 rebounds during the regular season.
