Spurs’ Jeremy Sochan to replace Trail Blazers’ Shaedon Sharpe in 2024 Panini Rising Stars

NEW YORK – San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan will replace injured Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe on Team Jalen in the 2024 Panini Rising Stars.  The annual showcase of premier young talent at NBA All-Star will take place on Friday, Feb. 16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and air live at 9 p.m. ET on TNT and ESPN Radio in the United States.

Sochan will play in Panini Rising Stars for the second straight season after making his debut in the event as an NBA rookie last year.  In his second NBA season, Sochan is averaging 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 29.5 minutes per game.  He has appeared in each of San Antonio’s 51 games and made 50 starts.  The 6-8 Sochan has recorded a double-double in three of his last seven games, including 31 points and 14 rebounds against the Trail Blazers on Jan. 26.

Sharpe, a second-year NBA player, will not participate in Panini Rising Stars after the Trail Blazers announced on Feb. 6 that he would undergo corrective surgery to address a core muscle injury.  He was voted to the Rising Stars player pool by NBA assistant coaches and selected in the Rising Stars Draft by former 13-year NBA veteran Jalen Rose, the honorary head coach for Team Jalen.

The 2024 Panini Rising Stars will feature select NBA rookies and sophomores and NBA G League players competing in a four-team mini-tournament with three games, each played to a Final Target Score.  More information about the competition is available here.
