NBA sets regular-season attendance record
NEW YORK – The NBA set an all-time regular-season attendance record with 21,926,548 fans attending games during the 2014-15 season, eclipsing the previous record of 21,841,480 set in 2006-07 and surpassing last year’s total of 21,392,721 by more than 500,000 fans. This marks a 2.4% increase over last season’s average attendance, making it the highest year-over-year percentage increase since the 1995-96 season.
The league also set regular-season records this year for average attendance, sellouts and average arena capacity:
- Average attendance of 17,826 fans per game broke the 2006-07 record of 17,757 fans per game.
- A total of 700 games sold out, exceeding the previous record of 676 sellouts set 20 years ago.
- NBA arenas were filled to a record 94% average arena capacity, marking the 11th straight season at 90% capacity or higher.
