Tenth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire tips off Feb. 13
NEW YORK – The NBA Development League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire returns to the NBA All-Star lineup for the 10th consecutive season on Saturday, Feb. 13. The game, featuring 24 top prospects from the NBA’s official minor league, will air live on NBA TV and NBA TV Canada at 2:00 p.m. ET from Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum.
Sioux Falls Skyforce head coach Dan Craig and his staff will coach the Eastern Conference team, while Ken McDonald, head coach of the Austin Spurs, and his assistants will lead the Western Conference squad by way of owning the best records in their respective conferences through games played Jan. 24.
In his first season in Sioux Falls, Craig has led the Skyforce to the league’s best record (21-4, .840) while capturing the NBA D-League Showcase Championship and securing the best start in NBA D-League history through 25 games. McDonald has guided Austin to a Western-Conference best 16-8 (.667) record to start the season, as two of his Spurs have earned GATORADE Call-Ups this season, including Jarell Eddie (Washington Wizards).
NBA D-League All-Star 2016 action tips off at 1:30 p.m. ET when six of the league’s sharpshooters compete in the NBA D-League Three-Point Contest. Six high-flying dunkers round out the day’s festivities when they participate in NBA D-League Slam Dunk presented by Verizon during halftime of the All-Star Game.
Ten 2015 NBA D-League All-Stars earned GATORADE Call-Ups following their appearance in the game last season, including the league’s 2015 MVP and Rookie of the Year, Tim Frazier. Frazier (Portland Trail Blazers) joins Seth Curry (Sacramento Kings) and Willie Reed (Brooklyn Nets) as 2015 NBA D-League All-Stars currently playing in the NBA.
NBA D-League All-Stars, three-point shooters and dunk contestants will be announced at a later date. NBA D-Leaguers who have played in half of their team’s games through Jan. 24 are eligible to play and the league’s 19 coaches will select the game’s participants.
