NBA Development League Draft set for Oct. 31
NEW YORK – The NBA Development League today announced that the 2015 NBA D-League Draft will take place via teleconference on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. ET from NBA D-League headquarters in New York City. The eight-round event is set to feature more than 200 draft-eligible players and, along with NBA Draft rights, affiliate, local tryout, and returning players, will serve to flesh out 2015-16 NBA D-League team rosters.
The selection order for each round of the 2015 NBA D-League Draft was first determined by the reverse order of 2014-15 regular-season results, with the teams that did not qualify for the 2015 playoffs selecting before those teams that did compete in postseason. Raptors 905, new to the NBA D-League for the 2015-16 season, will select between the playoff and non-playoff teams. The Draft order differs from this format based on trades, which are not permitted after Oct. 30. The final 2015 NBA D-League Draft order will be posted on nba.com/dleague on Oct. 31 after all potential trades have been executed.
Fans can follow the NBA D-League Draft on nba.com/dleague, which will feature all picks updated in real time. No trades of players or picks will be permitted during the Draft and only players signed to an NBA Development League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.
The NBA D-League’s 15th season tips off on Nov. 12 with a record 19 teams. Following the Draft, teams will hold training camps beginning no earlier than Nov. 1, and will trim their rosters to 10 players on Nov. 11, in advance of the start of the season.
