NBA LEAGUE PASS introduces new way to watch basketball with NBA Mobile View

NBA LEAGUE PASS, which provides live out-of-market games to NBA fans, will offer a completely new way to watch basketball on mobile phones and tablets throughout the 2016-17 NBA season with the introduction of NBA Mobile View.  The new NBA Mobile View meets the needs of today’s sports fan and their desire to consume content on the best screen available by providing a zoomed-in, tighter shot of the action that is optimized for the smaller screen size of mobile devices.

When fans select any game through NBA LEAGUE PASS, NBA Mobile View will appear as an additional streaming option.  The more traditional “Home” and “Away” viewing options will also remain for all games.  NBA Mobile View will debut on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as part of the NBA LEAGUE PASS free preview (Oct. 25 – Nov. 1).

Developed by the NBA and Turner Sports through their NBA Digital partnership, the new offering was created by installing new cameras in all 29 NBA arenas with each game having a designated producer specifically for NBA Mobile View.

In addition to NBA Mobile View, NBA LEAGUE PASS enhancements for the upcoming season include Turner’s iStreamPlanet providing the live streaming infrastructure for all games provided through the service.  iStreamPlanet is an industry leader in live video streaming with more than 15 years of experience and a history of supporting large sporting events.  NBA LEAGUE PASS will also broaden its content offerings with the video feeds being made available early enough to capture pre-game activity for the first time as well as in-arena footage during timeouts and halftime entertainment.

NBA Mobile View will be available for all NBA LEAGUE PASS subscribers, whether the subscription is purchased directly through the NBA or through a third party distributor and then authenticated on mobile or tablet devices.

For the upcoming season, NBA LEAGUE PASS will once again be available with a SINGLE GAME option ($6.99 per game), which allows fans to watch individual NBA LEAGUE PASS live games during the regular season, and NBA TEAM PASS ($119.99), which provides fans the option to follow a single team throughout the regular season.  These offerings are available to broadband and mobile subscribers on iOS and Android devices.

NBA LEAGUE PASS will also continue to offer its traditional, comprehensive full season package ($199.99), providing access to nearly 1,000 live out-of-market games and a rich archive of NBA content.

Last season, NBA LEAGUE PASS generated a record 26.7 million game views and more than 1.2 billion minutes viewed.  Setting a new high mark for digital subscriptions sold in a season, the service finished up 10 percent year over year.

Fans will be able to enjoy the subscription-based service across television, broadband, tablets and mobile phones (iPhone and iPad; Android phones, tablets and TV), as well as a wide variety of connected devices including the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3; Xbox One; Apple TV; Samsung Smart TV; Amazon Fire Tablet and Amazon Fire TV; and Roku.

NBA LEAGUE PASS is part of NBA Digital, the NBA’s extensive cross-platform portfolio of digital assets jointly managed by the NBA and Turner Sports, which includes the NBA App, NBA.com, NBA LEAGUE PASS and NBA TV.
