Pistons’ Rodney Stuckey, Jazz’s Deron Williams named NBA Players of the Week
NEW YORK – The Detroit Pistons’ Rodney Stuckey and the Utah Jazz’s Deron Williams today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Dec. 7, through Sunday, Dec. 13.
Stuckey led the Pistons to a 3-0 week, averaging 27.0 points on .529 shooting from the field, 6.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals. On Dec. 12, Stuckey led the Pistons with a season-high 29 points and added seven assists, helping Detroit to its fifth straight victory, a 104-95 win over Golden State. On Dec. 9 at Philadelphia, Stuckey led all scorers with 27 points, including the game-winning field goal with 8.7 seconds remaining.
Williams averaged 21.8 points, 11.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds, leading the Jazz to a 3-1 week. In consecutive games — Dec. 10 vs. Orlando, Dec. 12 vs. L.A. Lakers — Williams led the Jazz in scoring and assists. The wins snapped Orlando’s six-game and the Lakers’ 11-game winning streaks. Williams (10.1 apg) is one of only three players averaging 10 or more assists (Steve Nash, Phoenix, 11.1; Chris Paul, New Orleans, 10.4).

Dec. 10 vs. Orlando: Recorded team highs of 32 points and 15 assists, to go along with eight rebounds in a 120-111 win over the Magic.
Dec. 12 vs. L.A. Lakers: Posted team highs of 21 points and 11 assists, and added four rebounds and two steals in a 102-94 win over the Lakers.
