New collection of WNBA trophies culminates with debut of Championship and Finals MVP trophies
NEW YORK – This year’s Championship and Finals MVP trophies, which will be awarded at the conclusion of the 2023 WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV, are the latest to be revealed in the league’s new trophy collection. Each trophy is composed of meaningful details, all relevant to the WNBA’s history. Factors such as size, shape and finish are used intentionally throughout.
“We are thrilled to unveil a new trophy collection that both honors the history of the WNBA and forges a new legacy for the league going forward,” said WNBA Chief Marketing Officer Phil Cook. “These meaningful designs reflect the importance of players’ accomplishments and symbolize the WNBA’s progress over nearly three decades.
Postseason Trophies
Handcrafted by Tiffany & Co., the Championship and Finals MVP trophies continue a longstanding relationship between the WNBA and the American luxury house since the league’s inaugural season in 1997.
As a nod to the alternating panels of the WNBA’s signature game ball, contrasting finishes are used for the ball supported atop both trophies. The angled stems continue the tradition set forth by the original WNBA logo and Championship trophy. The Championship trophy weighs approximately 26 pounds and stands approximately 25 inches high. It was handcrafted at the Tiffany hollowware workshop in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and took approximately 16 weeks for a total of 70 hours of labor to complete. Team names of each previous champion cover the base of the trophy to honor the league’s pioneers.

End-of-Season and Event Trophies
Designed in partnership with artist Victor Solomon, end-of-season and event trophies have been reimagined to personify the level of achievement associated with WNBA honors.
“I’m honored to expand my partnership with the WNBA on this comprehensive new collection of trophies,” said Solomon. “Throughout our elevation of all athlete honors, the tenets remained: A trophy represents the singular pinnacle of sport, and it deserves to be as thoughtful, innovative and creative as the athletes who dedicate their lives in pursuit of them. I’m grateful to the WNBA for its trust and support of this bold vision as we collaborated on the new collection.”
The Kia WNBA MVP trophy, standing 19 inches tall, represents past winners of the award. Its 16-inch-tall logowoman symbolizes the 16 players who have won the prestigious award. The 3-inch-tall triangular base represents the three WNBA legends who have won the Kia WNBA MVP Award three times (Lauren Jackson, Lisa Leslie and Sheryl Swoopes).
The trophies for the Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year, Kia WNBA Sixth Player of the Year, Kia WNBA Most Improved Player, WNBA Coach of the Year, WNBA Sportsmanship Award (Kim Perrot Trophy) and WNBA Basketball Executive of the Year are all a unified design – honoring excellence in all aspects of the game. Standing 15 inches tall, the crystal column features a silver logowoman embedment and continues the triangular motif observed throughout the complete collection.

The Kia Skills Challenge and Starry 3-Point Contest Champion trophies are 14-inch-tall star crystal columns with the signature silver contrasting ball embedded. The All-Star MVP trophy shares the star crystal column motif – 13 inches tall representing the number of players who have received the award – and sits atop a two-tiered, 19-sided base referencing the three multi-time recipients (3-inch-tall bottommost base); two WNBA conferences (2-inch-tall uppermost base); and number of WNBA All-Star games to date (19).
