Nets’ Bojan Bogdanovic, Jazz’s Rodney Hood named Kia NBA Rookies of the Month

NEW YORK – The Brooklyn Nets’ Bojan Bogdanovic and the Utah Jazz’s Rodney Hood today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in April.

Bogdanovic led all Eastern Conference rookies in scoring (14.4 ppg) and shot 52.6 percent from the field, good for third among all rookies. He also shot 48.8 percent (20-for-41) from three-point range for the month. Bogdanovic scored in double figures six times, including a season-high 28 points on 12-for-17 shooting in a 101-88 victory over the Orlando Magic on April 15, a game Brooklyn needed to win to secure a playoff berth. He also was 6-for-6 from three-point range en route to 22 points in a 117-80 win over the Washington Wizards on April 10.

Hood finished fourth among all rookies in scoring (16.7 ppg) and seventh in assists (3.4 apg) as the Jazz posted a 5-3 record in April. He shot 45.2 percent from the field and 91.3 percent (21-for-23) from the free throw line. Hood scored in double figures six times, including three 20-point games. In a 111-105 win at Portland on April 11, he dished out a season-high eight assists to go with 21 points. Hood scored a season-high 25 points on 9-for-17 shooting in a 101-95 win at Sacramento on April 5.

April 6 vs. Portland: Scored 15 points on 6-for-13 shooting and added five rebounds in a 106-96 win over the Trail Blazers

April 10 vs. Washington: Shot 6-for-6 from three-point range en route to 22 points in a 117-80 win over the Wizards.

April 15 vs. Orlando: Scored a season-high 28 points to help the Nets clinch a playoff berth with a 101-88 win over the Magic.

Rodney Hood, Utah Jazz

April 5 @ Sacramento: Scored a season-high 25 points and added four steals and three rebounds in a 101-95 win over the Kings.

April 8 vs. Sacramento: Scored 20 points and added eight rebounds and four assists in a 103-91 win over the Kings.

April 11 @ Portland: Dished out a season-high eight assists to go with 21 points and two rebounds in a 111-105 win over the Trail Blazers.

Other nominees for the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month were the Los Angeles Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson, Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, New York’s Langston Galloway, Orlando’s Elfrid Payton and Philadelphia’s Nerlens Noel.
