Skyforce’s Scotty Hopson named NBA D-League Player of the Month
NEW YORK – Sioux Falls Skyforce guard-forward Scotty Hopson was today named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in March. The award is the first of Hopson’s career.
Hopson (6-7, 204, Tennessee) led the Skyforce to a 9-2 month in March when he scored 20-or-more points in seven contests, including two 30-plus point games. He led Sioux Falls in scoring five times and connected on 18 three-pointers, good for 39 percent. Hopson recorded his best game of the month on March 1, when he scored 35 points, grabbed four boards, dished out four assists and blocked two shots in a 122-118 win over division foe Fort Wayne.
For the month, Hopson averaged 22.5 points on 58 percent shooting from the floor to go with 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists as the Skyforce clinched a Central Division playoff berth.
This season, Hopson is averaging 19.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 40 games (32 starts) for Sioux Falls.
Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award were Austin’s Orlando Johnson, Fort Wayne’s Jordan Crawford, Iowa’s Willie Reed, Los Angeles’ Vander Blue, Maine’s Tim Frazier, Rio Grande Valley’s Jarvis Threatt, and Texas’ Jarrid Famous.
