Sears joins NBA to unveil Sears Shooting Stars at NBA All-Star 2013
NEW YORK – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Sears today announced an agreement that will make Sears the title sponsor of Shooting Stars, a specialty shooting competition during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night. Sears will give Shop Your Way Rewards Members – Sears’ free, members-only rewards program and shopping community – the opportunity to participate in unique experiences throughout NBA All-Star 2013.
As part of Sears Shooting Stars, Sears will have prominent exposure onsite in Houston and during the primetime broadcast on TNT. There will also be a dedicated Sears-branded area at NBA All-Star Jam Session where fans will have a chance to interact with NBA players and legends.
Additionally, Sears will provide one Shop Your Way Rewards member the chance to present the Sears Shooting Stars championship trophy to the winning team during an on-court presentation live on the TNT broadcast. Shop Your Way Rewards members will also have the opportunity to take photos with Sears Shooting Stars participants prior to the contest, receive tickets to NBA All-Star events, and meet an NBA legend.

Sears Shooting Stars will be televised live nationally as part of State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, which will also feature the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk, and Taco Bell Skills Challenge. TNT and ESPN Radio’s national coverage will begin at 8 p.m. EST from the Toyota Center. The NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 17, will air live on TNT, ESPN Radio and in more than 200 countries and will be broadcast in more than 40 languages.
The Sears Shooting Stars contest features one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and one TNT on-air talent/NBA legend on each team. There are six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. Each team will select a specific player rotation to follow throughout the competition. Each shot must be made before the next player begins shooting in succession. Teams have up to two minutes to complete the entire shooting course and the team that completes all six shots in the least amount of time is declared the winner. In the case of a tie, a shoot-off will be used to determine the winner.
In addition to the experiences provided to members of Shop Your Way REWARDS at 2013 NBA All-Star, Sears will provide Members basketball-related opportunities at NBA events throughout the year including at the NBA Draft presented by State Farm, the NBA Summer League, WNBA Inspiring Women National Awards Luncheon, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony.
