Bucks’ Jabari Parker and Timberwolves’ Andrew Wiggins named Kia NBA Rookies of the Month

NEW YORK  The Milwaukee Bucks’ Jabari Parker and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Andrew Wiggins today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in October/November.

Parker, the second overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, ranked first among all rookies in scoring (11.9 ppg). Additionally, among first-year players, Parker ranked second in rebounding (6.1 rpg) and steals (1.33 spg).  Parker recorded a career-high 23 points against the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 19, in a triple-overtime victory.  He also recorded double-doubles in two of his first three career games.

Wiggins, the first pick in June’s Draft, ranked second among all first-year players in scoring (11.6 ppg) and first in three-point field goal percentage (.440). Among Western Conference rookies, he ranked first in steals (1.13 spg) and minutes played (28.7 mpg). On Nov. 22 vs. the Sacramento Kings, he led Minnesota with a career-high 29 points during a 113-101 loss.

Oct. 31 vs. Philadelphia: Recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 93-81 win over the 76ers.

Nov. 19 @ Brooklyn: Contributed 23 points, seven rebounds and two steals in a 122-118 triple-overtime victory over the Nets.

Nov. 29 vs. Houston: Tallied 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 117-103 loss to the Rockets.

Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves

Nov. 5 @ Brooklyn: Contributed 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and four rebounds in a 98-91 win over the Nets.

Nov. 22 vs. Sacramento: Tallied 29 points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals in a 113-101 loss against the Kings.

Nov. 26 vs. Milwaukee: Recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal in a 103-86 loss to the Bucks.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month were Brooklyn’s Bojan Bogdanovic, Houston’s Kostas Papanikolaou, Minnesota’s Zach LaVine, Orlando’s Elfrid Payton and Philadelphia’s K.J. McDaniels.
