NBA opens league’s first store in Mexico

MEXICO CITY – The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced the official opening of the first-ever NBA Store in Mexico.  The 2,023 square-foot retail space is located on the corner of Masaryk and Aristoteles Streets (Aristoteles 123) in the heart of Polanco in Mexico City.

The new NBA Store, decorated with an oversized NBA logo façade, will provide fans of all ages with the widest selection of NBA merchandise available in Mexico, including apparel, jerseys, footwear, headwear, novelties and exclusive NBA gear from licensees such as Nike, New Era, Mitchell and Ness, Spalding, Timberland, Herschel and Stance.

The retail experience will also include signature features like a digital video wall displaying live NBA games, scores, highlights and social media content, as well as interactive elements such as NBA player measure-ups and legend footprints.  Additionally, fans will be able to personalize hats using the store’s customization service, buy tickets to games, sign up for NBA League Pass and attend special events, including NBA and WNBA player and legend autograph signings and appearances.

“The first NBA Store in Mexico City continues our long-standing commitment to growing the game of basketball and serving our passionate fans in Mexico,” said NBA Mexico Vice President and Managing Director Raul Zarraga.  “Fans in Mexico now have a unique interactive retail space that will feature the latest NBA gear, appearances by NBA talent, and special events – all bringing them closer to the game.”

Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. CST to 9 p.m. CST and Sunday from 11 a.m. CST to 6 p.m. CST, the shopping destination will offer the same outstanding customer service that fans have come to know and expect at the league’s NBA Stores worldwide.

The store opening in Mexico City precedes The NBA Mexico City Games 2019 presented by Nike, which will feature, for the first time, four NBA teams playing two regular-season games at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.

The Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons will play on Thursday, Dec. 12 and the San Antonio Spurs will take on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, Dec. 14.  The games will mark the 29th and 30th games in Mexico since 1992, the most NBA games held in any country outside the U.S. and Canada.  This also marks the fourth consecutive season the NBA will play two regular-season games in Mexico City.

Tickets for The NBA Mexico Games 2019 can be purchased at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico’s ticket booths, online at www.superboletos.com, by phone at 01 800 BOLETOS, or at any of the following stores across Mexico: Soriana, Farmacias del Ahorro, Innova Sport, and Palacio de Hierro.
