Grizzlies’ Vince Williams Jr. to replace Pelicans’ Dyson Daniels in 2024 Panini Rising Stars

NEW YORK – Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Williams Jr. will replace injured New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels on Team Tamika in the 2024 Panini Rising Stars.  The annual showcase of premier young talent at NBA All-Star will take place on Friday, Feb. 16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and air live at 9 p.m. ET on TNT and ESPN Radio in the United States.

Williams will play in Panini Rising Stars for the first time.  A second-year NBA player and the 47th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the 6-4 Williams is averaging 9.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 26.0 minutes in 41 games this season.

In his last 13 games, Williams is averaging 16.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.38 steals in 34.6 minutes while shooting 50.3% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range.  On Jan. 10, he signed a multi-year contract with the Grizzlies after starting the season on a two-way contract.

Daniels, a second-year NBA player, will not participate in Panini Rising Stars after the Pelicans announced today that he has sustained a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.  The 6-7 Daniels was voted to the Rising Stars player pool by NBA assistant coaches and selected in the Rising Stars Draft by 10-time WNBA All-Star and Indiana Fever legend Tamika Catchings, the honorary head coach for Team Tamika.  A native of Australia, Daniels played in the 2022 Rising Stars as a member of NBA G League Ignite.

The 2024 Panini Rising Stars will feature select NBA rookies and sophomores and NBA G League players competing in a four-team mini-tournament with all three games played to a Final Target Score.  More information about the competition is available here.
