WNBA tips off FIT Month presented by Kaiser Permanente

NEW YORK – WNBA FIT Month presented by Kaiser Permanente today tips off a series of dedicated programs and events that focus on health and wellness, hosted by teams and players. The WNBA continues to encourage physical and mental well-being for fans and promote the benefits of complete and total health.

As part of WNBA FIT Month, the WNBA and its teams will partner with Bright Pink for WNBA Breast Health Awareness (Aug. 18-31) to help with the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. Each team will host a Breast Health Awareness (BHA) game where players will wear Nike BHA uniforms and on-court warm-up shirts.

Throughout the month of August, the WNBA and Kaiser Permanente will host a four-clinic series with current and former WNBA players to engage hundreds of youth in both basketball and fitness skills and drills. The league and its teams will share guidance for staying active and achieving a healthy lifestyle.  In addition, Kaiser Permanente will lead a Thrive Together activity focused on positive thinking, self-reflection, and mindfulness where participants will learn how simple changes in perspective and proactivity can have a strong impact on transforming their own lives and the lives of others. The series will be held in Los Angeles on Aug. 2, Chicago on Aug. 21, Atlanta on Aug. 27 and New York on Aug. 29.

Each team will host at least one BHA game night in which players will wear black BHA jerseys and teams will include in-arena messaging and branding that focus on their BHA initiatives. Nike-branded WNBA BHA warm-up shirts will be sold on WNBAstore.com beginning Aug. 1, with a donation being made to support Kay Yow Cancer Fund and Bright Pink around BHA.
